Short blog. Nothing really to add. I got an interim promotion at work! Because of this I have been spending most of my free time learning the ropes. This is so I can turn the interim to a permanent role.
Even though there’s nothing much to add, I feel it’s important to look back and provide a fair and realistic history of the months. From when there weren’t enough hours in the day to work on the game, to months were I didn’t even open the GameMaker IDE.
My plans are about the same as they were last month. I want to complete and release the game before the end of the year. About half the game is about done, perhaps more than halfway done. A lot of what I want done is juicing up at the moment. I feel encouraged that I’m at the juicing stage at least.
Once all the juicing is completed, I would like to introduce a new game mechanic into the game. It’s a shop where pay for new steaks & for repairs for the stove. If you run out of steaks you lose money from customers. If you don’t keep on top of the repairs, the steak cook more slowly. This means it’s harder to cook the steaks perfectly. I think it would give the game more longevity. I’m currently in 2 minds about having an option to clean the restaurant. Given the UI, I don’t see how that can be organically added. Perhaps there’s something I could do with regards to the countertop, but I’ve not got a solid plan for that.
